Car accidents can happen to anyone, even those that receive training to serve and protect other people. Unfortunately, those some of those accidents are fatal and leave loved ones mourning their loss. In the blink of an eye, life can change forever.
Such is the case for the friends and family of a North Carolina Highway Patrol Trooper who died as the result of a car accident recently.
NC Trooper involved in a fatal accident
According to WBTV, a 28-year old Highway Patrol Trooper died as the result of a car accident. Officials state that he was driving north on Interstate 795 when the accident occurred. He drove off the right side of the road, where he hit a concrete ditch culvert. While reports state that no enforcement action appears to have taken place, it is not clear what caused him to veer off the road. The trooper was a married, five-year-veteran.
Police force mourns with family
Members of the police force call this a difficult and tough time. “Every trooper, every person who works for the highway patrol is a member of our family. Their families are members of our families,” reports the Seargent. Command staff spent the night at the hospital with the victim’s family members, as well as visiting their homes to show their support.
